Joshua Scott Chasez was born on August 8th, 1976 in Washington DC. He grew up in Bowie, Maryland with his parents Karen and Roy as well as sister Heather and brother Tyler. JC was not born singing as some in 'n Sync would claim to be. It wasn't untill he was 12 that he made his way to the stage and not even because of a love for the art. It was a bet. Well, he won that talent show and would later accompany a friend to the MMC auditions where he caught the eye of casting director Matt Casella. Casella encouraged the young man to audition and he wowed the group and was chosen on the spot to work on the show with so many other talented young people. Once in Orlando he would meet future band mates Justin Timberlake who appeared in MMC as well and Joey Fatone whom JC met through mutual friends. JC played such memorable characters as "Clarence 'Wipeout Adams'" (as part of the shows teen soap, "Emerald Cove"), Gary Gross, The Junkfood Dog and so many others as a member of the MMC cast. He stunned with his voice in such performances as "Love and Affection", "Now and Forever", "Mysterious Ways" and "I Only Have Eyes For You". In 1994 MMC's seven season run came to an end and JC headed home for Bowie. Following MMC JC spent time in California trying to find work, but came home after a time and got a job as a waiter and contemplated his future plans which possibly included college. During this time he also spent time with Justin in Tennessee working on musical projects. Eventually he got the call that would change his life forever. Justin had a friend who wanted to start a band and he asked JC to move back to Orlando so they could try this thing out. Well upon Chris, JC and Justin going out one night they would run into Joey who would quickly join the group. Feeling as if they were still missing something, through an old vocal coach of Justin's they would find Lance Bass. The group spent a lot of time rehearsing in hot warehouses, but all that work would pay off as they would get a record deal with BMG, a German company. Europe is where they would get their start and fame was almost immediate for the group. Coming home was harsh, yet peaceful as they would leave the chaos and fans behind once they stepped foot on their home turf. However, this would not be the case for long. Their first American release "I Want You Back" in March of '98 was met with a warm reception from fans who were ready for the pop light sound of vocal groups such as 'n Sync. It wasn't until their Disney Concert special which aired in July of that same year that their stardom would take off. Album sales soared and a spot opening up on Janet Jackson's velvet rope tour followed and their popularity would only continue to grow. JC would try his hand at writing and producing for the first time on "No Strings Attached" as he was responsible for such hits as "Space Cowboy", "No Strings Attached" and "Digital Getdown". He would also find himself working with other artists, writing and producing for them. The first of these groups was "Boyz and Girlz United" whose first single, "Messed Around" was written and produced by JC. He would also work with girl group, Wild Orchid on their third studio relase with such songs as "Fire" and "Lies". As of now the group was dropped from their label and the is awaiting word from another record company who will release the album. More recently 'n Sync released their latest album, 'Celebrity' on July 24, 2001. 'Celebrity' did not disappoint selling 1.8 million copies in it's first week. The group would then embark on what was the largest tour the world has ever seen, POPODYSSEY 2001. Both the stage and the crowds were massive. Fans flew in from all over the country to catch the show with some fans even going to almost every stop on the tour. Their first two American albums, ''n Sync' and 'No Strings Attached' have reached diamond status. Their latest album, 'Celebrity' will no doubt acheive the amount of sales. Their Christmas album 'Home For Christmas' went 2x platinum. They play sold out tours around the world and have collaborated with artists such as Gloria Estefan, Joe and Alabama. They have worked with producers and sogwriters like Max Martin, Veit Renn, Rip Rock and AG, Denniz Pop, Teddy Riley, The Neptunes, BT and so many others. 'n Sync is no longer just a pop phenom, they have become a part of our culture and will remain so for years to come...
